How to change account profile picture?

I wanted to know how to change the account profile picture on mountain lion?

*But I already figured it out. I just wanted to post this for people who are trying to figure it out. What worked for me was 1. Went to iPhoto and copied the photo that I wanted to use 2. go to system prefences 3. users & groups prefences 4. click the little arrow on the bottom of the picture 4. go to recents and just do command v. There you go nice and easy even though the instructions seem long.

Hope this helps you! I know I was having trouble trying to figure it out since we can't exactly do it the old way. Oh well new system new rules.😀

Considering this is the OS X Mountain Lion 10.8 forum, it make sense that the instructions are for changing the account picture for a Mac.

Generally speaking, you will find that if you look in the forum(s) associated with the products you are using, the answer will make more sense for your product.

On the iPad, you can change your picture via

Settings

  • "First_name Last_name", Apple ID, iCloud, iTunes & App Store (first button in Settings)
    • tap on the existing picture to edit
      • you will be giving the option of taking a photo
      • or Choosing a photo from your library of existing pictures

Again, asking this question over in the iPad forum might have been a better place for your question.

I figured out that to activate that picture 1. Open Messages 2. Click Messages in the Menu 3. Under accounts click Bonjour(iMessage should already be checked off). 3. Select a picture to go to change my picture under Messages menu.

*Any picture that you pasted under recents in the user & groups presences will show up in the recents in Messages. To use a new one just follow the instructions that I gave at the top(This step is just to paste the picture you want under recents since you can't paste it in the recents under the change my picture menu in messages). Afterwords you can change the picture under user & group prefrences back.

Is it so hard to put a folder icon there that you can direct to a folder on your system that has the images you want to use for your account picture?

I mean, the change account picture option seems to have everything else but that!

You scratch your head for an hour trying to figure out how to add your own already shot image there.

I really wonder if Apple is spending too much time in iOS and none on OS X. There's been so little improvement except for OS X copying iOS, which for me, makes no sense whatsoever, on a desktop computer controlled by a mouse and keyboard.
