Mountain Lion no Wifi after wake from sleep

I have a 2012 MBP and I also have the same issue, it has happened when plugged and unplugged from power. I didn't happen on Lion. I doesn't always happen but I can tell as soon as I open my laptop that if the wifi icon stays gray it's surely gonna require me to do a cold boot.

I too have Transmit installed and have kept the icon in the MenuBar, as mounting disks to Finder is one of my favorite features. Since I read this thread I removed it but since the issue happens on and off I don't know at this point if that will do anything.

I also have a couple of console logs if anyone can use them to determine what the issue is.

I'm having this same problem too. 2011 27" iMac, and the only third-party software I have installed is Transmit, Office 2011, Suitcase Fusion 4, Adobe Creative Suite 5.5, Transmit, DropBox and 1Password. Whenever my iMac goes to sleep for an extended period, when it wakes up, all I get is a spinning beachball and I'm unable to do anything. Have to do a hard restart.

This solution is the only thing that's working for me:

Go to System Preferences -> Energy Saver -> and UNcheck the box that says "Put hard disk(s) to sleep when possible on BOTH the Battery and Power Adaptor tabs.

The first suggestion worked great for me - I'm now unsubscriing from this list - I've gone to sleep and hibernate several times and it has worked great since deleting all the preferred networks. Fortunately, keychain keeps your passwords seperate from that!

Toggle On/Off "Show Transmit Disk in menu bar" in Transmit preferences and forget about wifi issues.

Hi guys.. haven't made it all the way through this thread yet, but yes.. Transmit and Safari seem to be a part of this issue. A group of us have verified this, as reflected in this thread:

We've been contacted by both Panic and Apple and they are working on it. Apple tech told me last night that they consider this a priority item, so hopefully they'll nail it soon.

In the meantime, I've disabled sleep while plugged in, and try to remember to dump Transmit before I close the lid on my MPB and that seems to be working.

UPDATE: OK.. made it through the thread and now I feel stupid. Sorry for speaking too soon.. looks like you guys zeroed in on the issue as well.

This didn't work for me. I never had Transmit Disk enabled. I also tried removing MacFuse (used to be part of Transmit Disk feature), and that didn't help either.

I also never had Transmit Disk enabled, but I just enabled it, and then disabled and I don't have any more problems.

Thanks, jonfer. So.. do you mean you just toggled the setting in Transmit preferences that says "Show Transmit Disk in menu bar?" or am I missing something?

Yes, if its not checked, check it and then uncheck it to leave it as it was before.

Yeah.. that's what I tried before.. didn't work, but it's worth another try.. Thanks again!

OK.. I'm extremely happy to report that this worked for me as well. This time I checked the "Show Transmit Disk in menu bar", shut down Transmit, opened it again, unchecked the box, shut it down again, restarted Transmit and put it to sleep. Woke up fine, tried again, also fine.

I lost days of productivity with the wifi issue that occurred the moment I upgraded to Moutain Lion - this SOLVED the issue for me after trying many that did not work and I am thrilled (follow in this order exactly):

1. Go to Network System Preferences and click the Advanced button;
2. From the Wi-Fi tab, delete all the known networks
3. Return to the main Network display and delete Wi-Fi from the Services list.
4. Finally, add a new Wi-Fi service (by clicking the + icon at the bottom of the list section).

That's more of a Band-Aid than a fix.

Just remember never letting your Mac go into a compltete sleep is just a band-aid. Apple has verified on mine that it losses wifi while using my Mac. I mostly use Chrome and don't have that transmit program. And still have the issue that started with Lion.

Removing the Transmit icon solved my issue on a 2010 Macbook pro and a 2008 Macbook
