Jul 28, 2012 2:30 PM in response to Carolyn Samitby Shawn McCuan,The AHT won't come up. It appears I am not the only one who can't access the AHT on 10.8: https://discussions.apple.com/message/19062563#19062563
I also entered the recovery partition, and was unable to locate anything resembling the AHT

Jul 28, 2012 5:29 PM in response to Shawn McCuanby Eric Parkinson,Hello,
I am also experiencing these rendering oddities - usually related with mouseover layer effect or exapand/collapse actions.
In addition to this, I am experiencing issues while typing text in certain form fields within Safari only. As I type, say, my username, the cursor will jump back a few position and/or not render the text I am typing. If I highlight the space, I then see the text. This may be related to the above, but I cannot be sure.
Thanks,
E. -

Jul 28, 2012 9:44 PM in response to Shawn McCuanby Jerryb,I also had these problems. Mine were so severe that I was using Chrome, which got some but not as bad as Safari.
I solved the issue by doing a clean install of MT Lion. Previously I had only updated Lion with the new OS. I believe that is the cause of the anomalies.

Jul 28, 2012 10:43 PM in response to Jerrybby Shawn McCuan,If Chrome was doing it as well, it must be something in WebKit. I did an "Upgrade" install as well. I'd really prefer not to re-install, I just reinstalled completely from a hard drive failure about a week ago...lol.

Jul 28, 2012 10:48 PM in response to Jerrybby Eric Parkinson,I am seeing those issues on Google Chrome Canary Version 22.0.1220.0 but not on regular Chrome Version 20.0.1132.57.
Perhaps it's related to attempts to render graphics for retina displays? Speculation.

Jul 30, 2012 9:22 PM in response to Shawn McCuanby TechAddict,
Having same problem here. Only on some sites. When typing in some text boxes in Safari the cursor starts acting erratically, then letters I type stop rendering, cursor jumps back several spaces and then renders a vertical line next to the last letter it did render. Very annoying. -
Jul 30, 2012 11:20 PM in response to TechAddictby Daveecee,I have these problems frequently as well. There seem to be JavaScript rendering issues with Safari. Hope Apple acknowledges them.

Aug 1, 2012 5:35 PM in response to Shawn McCuanby leftlax,I'm experiencing ongoing rendering problems as well. The problem is mainly in Safari 6.0 (8536.25) and happened immediately after upgrading to Mt Lion. Mouseover problems, form completion. Inconsistent.

Aug 1, 2012 8:19 PM in response to Shawn McCuanby Phrogz,It seems like someone tried to optimize the rendering speed by being more aggressive with dirtying/redrawing tighter regions, but the code is buggy. I too see lots of rendering issues with text while typing in a <textarea>, redraw issues in areas like Facebook (clicking to expand comments sometimes does not draw them), and increased problems with SVG dirty rects.
For example, see this demo, and notice how 'junk' is left on screen sometimes around the circle as it moves:
Here's a screenshot I took while complaining about the upgrade on Google+:
In trying to hide the menu, it failed to redraw the page properly. And just now, typing this last sentence, the line of text flickered in and out.
It could be that this is related to the video subsystem. As noted in the screenshot above, I'm experiencing these issues on a 17" Mid-2010 laptop with Intel HD Graphics/GeForce GT 300M internal.

Aug 2, 2012 11:04 PM in response to Shawn McCuanby brendanfromab,I'm also experiencing these issues. It's very annoying. Does anyone have any ideas other than a complete OS re-install to fix this?
