Wifi freezes Mountain Lion (especially with Safari it seems)

Glad I can help! For what it's worth, I've disabled Transmit Disk and when I woke from sleep just now, the WiFi icon searched for the network and connected without freezing or locking up the system.

Scott - By "disabled Transmit Disk" did you mean you unchecked the Show Transmit Menu in preferences? I've had that unchecked all along and it didn't help in my case.

That feature apparently uses MacFuse. Would you mind sharing which version of MacFuse are you running (found under System Preferences)?

I disabled the Transmit Disk via Transmit's preferences.

I've got MacFUSE 2.2.1 (Tuxera), it says it's a beta version. It's been installed on my system for awhile and haven't tried to update it.

It appears that Transmit Disk doesn't need MacFUSE anymore, as of version 4.1.1:

I believe the only reason I still have it was that VMWare Fusion required MacFUSE.

I just installed Fuse for OSX, which supports MacFUSE if you check a box on installation. It also removes previous versions of MacFUSE:

A thread mentioned a problem with Mountain Lion, but apparently version 2.5.0 corrects this:

After installing Fuse for OSX, I thought I'd enable Transmit Disk. When I woke my computer this morning, the freeze happened again, so I'm disabling Transmit Disk for the time being and will post results.

deleting Transmit solved all lockup problems...

In speaking to the " I am a genuis" and the genius bar, he reccoemend a new hard drive. And I almost went for it. But it just did not make sense. Glad I did not go through all that work . . . disabled Transmit. We'll see.

@zippytunes - Wow.. that's pretty lame coming from a genius, if you were having these same symptoms. Keep us posted.

What if you don't have "Transmit Disk" ?

@gsspike - That makes no difference for me. I lock up either way. I never had that turned on when the problem occurred.

Then you may have a different issue... or a different program causing the issue? so do you not have transmit installed? i may also be having this issue with coda 2, but im unable to confirm this.

I thought I should pass this on. Apple called me yesterday and they are following these threads. They told me that right now they are gathering data and they weren't calling me with a fix yet. They had me try different things others have recommended and then they would have me run some test and email it to them. Luckally my Mac kept dropping wifi while I was talking to them and using my Macbook without it going into sleep mode. .

Again they are taking it seriously, they are reading the threads. They are looking into what has worked for some people and not for others.

Now this is My advise, Post what you are trying, BUT Don't post that it's working for you until you test it for a day. Some are trying everything in every post and then they are disappointed that it didn't work and forget to change things back and that could lead to other issues down the road.

Again don't post it worked for you because it didn't drop wifi for a few hours give it a day.

Nope not installed because I never downloaded it.

I had the same thing today: they recommended the fix for this was to format my drive, reinstall Mountain lion and then reinstall all of my files from time machine....figured not the way forward quite yet.

I don't have coda, transmit, or the other programmes mentioned so far and have the same thing. See earlier thread.

Lets see what apple come up with as they are reading this thread.
