Hello there,
I have an Laserprinter Samsung SCX-4100 and just updated Lion to Mountain Lion.
But now the printer is just not responding. In Lion there has been a problem with this printer, but I found a solution and it was working.
Need the printer to print out my exam and Mountain Lion just made my printer worthless now.
Have anyone a similar problem with it?

Have installed the SCX-4200 drivers and they are working for me now.
So problem have been solved. Thanks for the answer, I got it working for now 🙂
Hi Jake, i have SCX-4200 too.
Using Samsung Drivers the printing is fine but my Mountain Lion is not recognizing the Scanner function neither through "Samsung Select Scanner" utility nor with Print & Scan OSX menu.
Can you help me?
Which versions did u downloaded?
test with another computer maybe the scx-4200 is just defect

I too have bought a macbook pro & have a Samsung SCX4100 printer for which I couldn't find the compatible driver. Could you please let me know if you can print & scan with your SCX-4100 after installing the SCX-4200 driver on your Mac?

I installed the SCX-4200 driver from Apple on my SCX4100 printer and this driver is working.
Scaning and printing is working with mountain Lion and this driver.
You can Install the driver SCX-4200 when you choose the driver by installing it in the printing interface.
You can choose the driver by choosing it in driving interface then you choose another printer and choose the SCX-4200 driver. I did so and the driver is working in mountain lion perfectly. The driver prints and scan everything I wanted. Hope this helped. You can try another driver when the SCX-4200 is not working.

Sorry to be such a noob, but do you have any idea where to find those drivers that you could choose from in the Printer Software window? I am trying to get an SCX-4200 to run with Mountain Lion, and cannot seem to find a proper driver anywhere.
See if running Software Update from your Apple menu. A lot of new printer drivers for Mac are being rolled out that way instead of being posted on the printer companies' web sites.
Thanks Allan. Software Update sends me to App Store with nothing to download, I am afraid. Are you saying that printer drivers will be distributed through App Store? Would be cool if it worked. Guess I will have to wait and see. Meanwhile, does any one know where to download the driver right now?

Sorry for the delay. When I got your massage yesterday I go to work and then forget it.
To install new drivers is very simple.
First go to System Preferences.
Second choose Print & Scan and go the the printer preferences.
Then you see the keylock you have to unchange it, because you want to make changes. Type your password and your Username to make the changes. When this is finished you can see the button with the "+" to add a new printer or scanner. So click there and you get to the next screen.
A new menu will open where you can add a new printer. As you can see there is a printer SCX-4100, because the printer is powered on and pluged into my iMac so MAC OS X will recognize this. But we want to change the printer software because SCX-4100 is not working. So we select our printer SCX-4100 obove and in the drop down menu where you can see it in the screenshot we choose to select another driver software.
You can see this here on the other screenshot, what I have done. I have selected the SCX-4100 Multifunction printer in the print selecting menu and then choose "Select Printer Software" this will lead you to another menu where you can choose the right driver.
Another menu "Printer Software" opens and you can choose here the driver. There are all drivers for all kind of printers. You can type to find the right one. I typed SCX and find the right driver. I choose Samsung SCX-4200 Driver and click OK and then the driver will be installed.
Then when everything is finished in the next menu you have to click "ADD" and "CONTINUE" to install the driver.
And you have installed for SCX-4100 another driver such as the SCX-4200.
And thats it. Thats the whole magic to install another driver for your printer. When SCX-4200 is not working you can try another drivers. For me it works. Hope it works for you too. Hope this helped.

However, I have been through this process a couple of times already. The problem is that when I do it, no Samsung SCX drivers appear at all in the Printer Software window, so for some reason Apple does not see them here (Sweden).
My first reaction was that there are no SCX-4200 drivers for Mountain Lion, but as you clearly show in your example, there are. I would just like someone to point me in the right direction so I can download it myself.

When you have problems installing the apple driver you can download Samsung SCX-4200 driver from the Samsung homepage.
Here is the link where you can download the drivers.
The last version is the 10.7 version for OS X.

Hi Jake 2013, you need to install the SCX-4200 driver from the samsung website and then search the driver as Jake has instructed you in system preferences. Hope this helps.

Its Omar again here. I have managed to install the printer driver and the printer is working fine with my Mac. However I cannot get it to scan any items. Any ideas how to do make it scan? I have tried insatlling the scan driver and scanthru software from the Samsung website.

Hello. I have a problem: I installed the driver (version 3) from the Samsung website, then I opened the system preferences and went to "print & Scan". I added my SCX 4200 printer but no driver was found. There are drivers from other models, such as SCX 4300, but not mine. Any ideas? Thanks.
