Sound stuttering after Mountain Lion install

Dear community,

after having installed OSX Mountain Lion my sound startet stuttering whenever there is rapid movement on my screen.

This includes e.g. window movement, scrolling through image loaded websites or video playback (flash player, quicktime).

A restart didn't help. I'm using stereo output, not digital.

I have connected a second monitor but the problem persists after disconnecting it. Movement on the second monitor also causes the sound to stutter.

My GPU Diode temperature is at 85°C (there is some bug that keeps the GPU under load while a second monitor is connected AFAIK), but I guess it was the same under Snow Leopard.

In Snow Leopard the sound output was always perfect even under heavy load or heavy HDD I/O.

Any ideas?

I am also having this issue as well.

I opened Activity Monitor and noticed that during the stuttering, coreaudiod jumps in CPU usage, often past 5%. I have also noticed graphics lag when this occurs if I'm doing something like watching full-screen video or gaming.

I'm currently experiencing this on mid 2011 iMac 27" as well as a 24" iMac 2009 model I use at work.

Chris and Morgan, I've also done the update and the audio lag and cursor jumping, and GUI issues are certainly lessened. However, it's still nowhere as good as Lion was. I'm also using this on a 2011 iMac 3.4 with SSD and 2 TB hdd and 6970 2 Gb of Video Ram and 16 gigs of memory.

Performance should be spot on, but it certainly isn't there yet. I really wish apple cared about video and audio drivers as much because they are somewhat important to creative projects that involve using my iMacs.

I couldn't agree more. For a company that prides themselves in selling high quality computing solutions, I would have though an issue like this would have been fixed in 10.8.1. Guess we can only wait...

HAHA, it's so amusing, they half-targeted the issue!! Previously I was getting much more glitches playing music on iTunes, I just installed the update, hit play and waited. It played nearly a full song without stuttering, and I was starting to be happy, but at the end of the song, two glitches came up. It kept playing to the second song, the glitches started to accumulate! FUСK! It stopped completely, It's worse.

I just don't know what happens with this macbook but it started turning off internal sound alone, and It's quite warm...

Yes, Apple will likely tell you you turned the computer on and are using it wrong. Much like the iPhone in that we evidently are holding the phone wrong.

Also, I am having the audio stutter too, but I am just using the 3.5mm jack on the back of my iMac to some soundsticks HK. So I'm not sure why it's so bad there either.

Either way, 10.8.2 should be out in September as it will need to coincide with iOS 6. So I am hopeful that they fix this issue by then. Apple has refused to let me get a copy of Lion, That I paid for, and reinstall it on my machines. So the only other alternative is to go buy Windows.

Their arrogance as a company is going to drive customers away. I know my father has seen what I have dealt with recently and is likely going to buy a Samsung 9 series computer. Customers talk and it's much more viral than any advertising campaign Apple can run on television.

Here's Hoping!
