Sound stuttering after Mountain Lion install

Yes, this is exactly the problem!

10.8.2 and it's still effecting me as bad as ever

I was really hopeful for a while - it went away on the beta 10.8.1 and then resurfaced...ugh

Does anyone know when 10.8.3 is expected? Or a developer preview of 10.8.3?

1. Open Audio MIDI Setup (located in Applications/Utilities)
2. Examine the Audio Output setting.
3. Change the Audio Output setting to 44100.0 Hz.
4. Quit Audio MIDI Setup.

Mine are at 44100.0 so its not that.

I tried that a few weeks ago.

Everything seemed to be fine, but stuttering started after a while again D:

I've been doing a similar workaround since 10.8.0 came out:

Audio MIDI > change audio to *any* different Hz value, then change back to what you want.

The audio is restored instantly.

However, it lasts only a few minutes before the problem starts again.

My Audio MIDI window now stays open all the time just so I can watch a movie at 1/4 screen size!

Is the tunderbolt audio also affected? (Tunderbolt display/thunderbolt dock/…)

I just emailed David Pogue with details and links. Perhaps he or some of his very influential contacts will consider this issue for an article.

For those on this forum who are Twitter savvy, can you start threads about this issue? The more widespread we can publish this problem (outside of this forum) and the more press we can generate, the more likely it will be that Apple will bump this problem up in priority.

Well, I'm not Twitter savvy, but in my opinion, the hash tag should have "stutter" in the name because a google search on "mountain lion sound stutter" or "mountain lion video stutter" pulls the most results. I believe that someone searching on Twitter would include the word "stutter" also.

I've mentioned this problem at other OS X versions, although my problem too is with Mountain Lion, I know this is happening historically. This creates a shorter hashtag, and not too specific.

Yes, something like that. A search on google for "os x freeze" turns up an entirely different issue.

Although this sound/video stuttering problem *can* lead to a total system freeze, it usually doesn't for most users. It more often leads to a total sound (and/or video) freeze.

I'm certainly not trying to nitpick here. I just want to make sure that anyone with this stutter problem could easily find the Twitter posts.

Again, I will defer this to those of you who are avid Twitter users.
