You can upgrade to a new OS with one click and that's great.

But since they ship buggy systems they now need to design "roll back w one click".

As it stands there is no easy way to get out once you have "upgraded". And they won't give me my money back either. It is a mess and it makes people angry. All my audio / video friends tell me this OS is a disaster. I should have listened to them.

Anyhow I agree w the prior post, if you don't put that video back on YouTube or start a web site about how they suck...they won't do anything. They already got your money and aren't thinking long term like Jobs.

By the way I notice they have gone feature crazy on the new OS and iPhone OS, that will sink them eventually. Its why blackberry *****.  Simplicity, the lack of pointless features and "improvements"...Jobs understood that.

Okay, now this forum is not even letting me post, that's suspicious.

Doesn't matter how awesome their next generation OS X is, I probably won't be going anywhere near it for at least six months. Apple are already creating a hard sell for their 10.9 marketing team by not even acknowledging that this problem exists.

They've screwed Maps up and their flagship OS may just as well be call OS X Lame Duck as far as I am concerned. I remember the company proudly displaying EVE Online being played on their newly introduced iMac range. What a freaking joke! That game is now unplayable and I may have to resort to building a proper computer and installing another "joke" OS that at least just works to play it -- I've lost that much faith!

Not had a response from my Apple contact since asking how I go about finding Lion from somewhere to reinstall.

Did get response here to say it should be available in my App Store purchase is, so I'm downloading now and hopefully kissing goodbye to the sham that is Mountain Lion.

    Hello pink mink,

After your download, can you post here if the installation of lion worked out? No data loss or errors. Appriciate it a lot.

If you succeed, i to will go back to lion.

Oh dear! My new Mac Pro, Mountain Lion, OS X 10.8.2, iTunes 10.7 has this audio stutter/glitch/drop out too when playing music in iTunes, amp connected to LINE OUT.

The only discovery i've been able to make is that when the audio stutters, Activity Monitor > Disk Activity registers a large read or write spike. Next step is to identify what is causing this spike. Currently trying the "sudo fs_usage" command in Terminal.

    Also downloaded ToneGen from <>.

This thread started two months ago. I do hope Apple fixes it soon.

    Yes please post back.

I want to know if I can download Lion from the App Store (pay more money), overwrite Mountain Lion, and get back to work. Then never pay AAPL for an update again that isn't at least a couple years old and proven.

Checking the App Store however I didn't find anything.

By the way we sat thru a movie last night from the iTunes Store for $14.99 with clips and pops the entire time. Thanks Tim Cook!

No i tried to download it again but it was cancelled... Not bij a official way... perhaps with a bit of cheating?? Let me know if you find a way.. Last time when i tried something like that i had no controls what so ever. When i started up i just saw a broken map in the middle that was it!

See my reply to Pink Mink a page or two back about how to redownload Lion *IF* you have previously purchased it in the App store.

If its a brand new...under 14 day old... system,  return it to Apple as defective and request a replacment. You can return anything you buy at an apple store, or apple online store within 14 days no questions asked. Tell them it has sound problems and you want a replacment.

  • LouFace Level 1 Level 1

After a couple of weeks of observation I've discovered that every time my sound stutters/crackles I have a 'ReportCrash' (sometimes two) in my Activity Monitor using up a lot of CPU. Once I quit these processes the sound returns to normal. Now if I could only find what these crashes are, I may be able to return to a fully functional Mac.

In speaking with Apple's upper techs, and also reading on here what others are reporting this might have some substance.  Apple said they think it's a latency problem, I read another post where somone changed out the ram to crucial memory and said they didn't have issues anymore.  Since Apple in the past has generally included Samsung memory from their stores and at factory, perhaps the memory timings and voltages could be off and are causing this to be a problem.  iTunes and just about every other program will cache data and if the memory timings are off, or latency, then that would cause all of these problems.  It would likely also account for why this issue doesn't seem to happen on machines with the memory that is attached to the motherboard rather than the laptop memory that is in the mbp and imacs.  I haven't seen one person with an air, or retina macbook pro say they have the audio stutter issues.

    Bad news

Took four hours to download Lion 10.7 from the App Store - then was greeted with this -

This has now taken an even more unpleasant turn for me.  Apple have supplied a product that DOESN'T WORK CORRECTLY ON AN APPLE COMPUTER (that is shocking) and that faulty product that doesn't work correctly DOES NOT ALLOW YOU TO INSTALL A PRODUCT THAT DOES WORK CORRECTLY (that is just plainly unacceptable).

Surely there is some legal requirement to allow paying customers the right to use a product that actually freakin' works?!?!

  • i.campbell Level 1 Level 1

    Hey Pink,

All is not lost. Go here: Create a boot disk

And boot from it doing clean install. Pain in the *** because you'll have to back up your data again, but probably a worthwhile exercise. Be interested to hear how you got on because I probably won't be far behind you. I'm sick of this wanky OS now.

If it was my car I would bring it to the mechanic instead of screwing around with it.
