I just bought Logitech H390 usb headset, works great. Until I put my computer to sleep when not in use. Then, they do not work. Still show up in the sound settings under system preferences. I have to restart the computer for them to work again. Unplugging them does not work either.

Have you checked with Logitech, it's their product... you check to see if it has any known issues.
Yes, I have in fact checked with them. I love the it's thier product comment. This seems to be the attitude of the sommunity as a whole anymore, including in the apple stores. no help really just deflecting it to someone else/another company.
I was experiencing the same difficulties and getting no where, when I decided to stasrt my Skype program. Lo and behold, the headset started working with my iMac. It may have been a totally random event, but it also may be that the Skype program has some protocols/settings that interfere with normal recognition of the H390.
