Hello, do you mean the actually chip number, or what?
I'd like to know the manufacturer. Texas Instruments chips seem to have fewer (or no) problems with audio hardware than Agere or Lucent, this latter is in my otherwise fantastic white macbook, and has been giving me problems lately. I'm wondering whether I should use my old mini instead for critical live audio recordings.
Ah, I see...
Mac Mini (PPC, old):
'FireWire (OHCI) Apple ID 31 built-in now active, GUID 001451fffe0a2400; max speed s400.'
This is actually an Apple 'Intrepid' and uses a Lucent PHY, according to the Apple PHYTool 2.9
My old (Lucent chipset) PPC Mini exhibits big problems working with my FireWire audio interface (TI chipset, TC Electronic Konnekt 24D), whilst my old (TI chipset) MacBook Pro works fine.

Ah, thanks BDAqua.
Though that is bad news, it is good to know the facts.
