How can this be?!!! (Safari query)

Hi

I've recently wiped my hard drive, then downloaded and installed Mountain Lion (for a second time).

I've just gone 'on line' using Safari and had expected to have to re-load all my old bookmarks - but they are all still just as they were before I wiped my hard drive!

How can this be? How does my iMac *know* what was here beforehand? 😕

There's probably an easy answer - if there is, please share!

TIA

iCloud?

At a guess the first install saved your bookmarks to the cloud. The reinstall pulled them back.

Hi ~Bee 🙂

tt2 did say "At a guess ..." appearing to me to be less than 100% confident that his answer was correct.

I have read at the link he gave me http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4001

You are obviously another experienced Apple user so I'd be grateful if you would simply state whether or not you, too, also believe that use of the Cloud is how Safari has retained all previous bookmarks.

I'd appreciate that!

Then I can forget about my slight concern that I'd not wiped my hard drive properly! 😉

Cheers
