Can You Turn off Grammar Check in Mail?

I find the spelling check useful when composing messages in Apple's Mail application, but the grammar check is intrusive. They seem to be linked, unless you turn it off for each individual message when you click the "check on send" button in preferences. Is there any way to keep the spelling check but to disable the grammar check?
