Q: iCloud shows 'no devices' even though my iPhone has the FindMyPhone app installed and is logged into the iCloud account.  How can I get the phone to show up?

My phone signs in OK with iCloud, and iCloud syncs the calendar etc. OK, but FindMyPhone app does not work.  It is iinstalled and logs in to iCloud OK, but iCloud shows 'no devices'.  I've uninstalled/reinstalled several times with no change.  The phone is connected to the internet, FindMyPhone is turned on, and location services is turned on.  What else can I do to get iCloud to find this phone???

The "Find my Phone" app has absolutely nothing at all to do with making your phone locatable. It is only for locating another iOS device from yours. The app doesn't even need to be installed for your phone to be locatable.

Thanks for the info.  I deleted the app from my phone based on your explanation.  I had already read the knowledge base article you referenced, but thanks anyway.  I still have the problem.

This morning, after repeatedly getting "no location found" on my PC's iCloud home page, I finally told it to remove the phone from the device list, thinking I could just set it up again.  I apologize for not mentioning this initially.  However, my iPhone is connected to my iClould account.  Is there any manual way to tell iClould to recognize my phone again?

Your phone should automatically re-appear in "Find my iPhone" when it next connects to the internet. There's nothing you can do to force it.

So, from that support document you've confirmed that none of the following are true:

    • The date on your device is incorrect. This can be set in Settings > General > Date & Time.
    • Your iOS device is currently off or not connected to a data network (Edge, 3G or Wi-Fi).  Wait a few minutes and try again.
    • Your iPad (Wi-Fi only), iPod Touch, or Mac is currently off or not connected to a Wi-Fi network.
    • Location Services is not enabled on your device in Settings.
    • You are located in a country where Apple does not offer this feature. This feature may not be available in all countries due to technical limitations or local law.

Have you tried the age old troubleshooting tip of turning the phone off and then on again?

Yes, I double-checked every one of the items you list:

Date/time is set to auto-update and is accurate.

The iPhone is connected to the internet via my home wifi & downloads from the web like it should.

Location services are on, and the GPS positioning in the Maps app works fine.

    I am in New Jersey.

I have turned the phone off and back on several times.

Also, the FindMy Phone is turned on in the phone's iCloud settings.

I've refreshed the iCloud home page and still "no devices".

Yes, as Ahmed El Masry and philinflem have written, this is no isolated problem. I've taken all steps to ensure location services, iCloud and my iCloud control panel have all been set up for Find My iPhone, yet both devices read: "No Devices". I've followed all setup instructions.  I wonder if this is a PC problem?

A Ha! I found my issue. My iCloud was setup under a different email address between my iPhone and my PC. I was logging in with my new apple user ID online while my phone's iCloud was set up with my old Apple User ID.

Now I'm off to find out how to change the email address associated with my Phone's iCloud. If i recall, this is either difficult or impossible.

    Problem solved - finally!

I finally took my iPhone to the nearest Apple Store because of this problem.  They could not identify or fix the problem at first.  Then the specialist set up my iPhone's iClould settings to log into her iCloud account.  She could not see my phone either.  This proved that the problem was with my phone, not the cloud.  With this conclusion, they wiped out all my phone's software and did a complete re-install in the store.  Now it works OK.  All my data and apps were backed up and preserved, so I did not lose anything -- i.e., no need ot fear this option if they offer it to you.
