Not sure if the feature was omitted with the latest Safari 6 update...

Try this.

Quit Safari. Now open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar top of your screen click Go > Go to Folder

Type this exactly as you see it here:

~/Library/Safari

Click Go

Move the Downloads.plist file from the Safari folder to the Trash.

Relaunch Safari to test.

I noticed this when I upgraded all 3 of my machines to mountain lion gm seed and now retail. The delete .plist file only works cosmetically the once. Something seems to have changed in Safari itself.

There are no magic keypresses or hover areas or options to show this basic and needed statistic - why has it been removed?

Very annoying! I need to monitor my download speeds right now..

the problem has something to do with safari (v 6.0) not with the os, what i noticed is, sometimes it shows the transfer rate and sometimes not, it happened to me today, i was downloading a video and the download speed appeared for few seconds and then went away again, i guess it's a bug in safari 6, hope it'll be fixed soon

Unaffected2,

Good to hear that it solved your problem. Please 'like' my solution so other people can share the solution too.

b.t.w. there's one limitation found: when the download speed become too slow or the bing time is too long, the download speed will be unavailable.
