Do you have a plan that includes texting? You need to have a plan that includes it. If you are just trying to use iMessage then that requires a wifi connection and sending a message to a person using an iphone. You also need an SMS plan for that as well and it has to be active.
If you need more specific information then we would need to know the error message you are receiving.
Have you contacted your cellular provider to make sure that your account is properly provisioned?
Are you referring to SMS or iMessage (or both)? Do you have SMS provisioned in your cell plan? Have you contacted your carrier?
I could text with my other phone just fine, don't know why it won't work on the iPhone. I didn't even try iMessaging because not many of my friends I daily talk to have an iPhone. Just regular texting. I'm supposed to have 10k free texts each month and even if I didn't have a plan, I'd just pay for them right? I don't really know what you mean with "plan".
The error is just that it can't be sent...
The text has not been sent, tap "try again" to try again.
That's all I get...
Does it make a difference, if you switch from a Samsung Galaxy to an iPhone for your carrier? :/
Call your carrier. When you changed phones, they may have screwed up and canceled texting. Happened to me twice with AT&T.
Most carriers require you to have texting activated. It sounds like they did not activate texts when they switched out your phone.
I never ever had a problem with my carrier while switching phones. Don't know where you guys are from but I'm from Belgium and I don't think that could be the problem. The dude who sold me the iPhone, and activated it and etc, told me I could text and call but all I needed to do was to synch it to iTunes... Which I (obviously) did but nope, nothing.
Once again, CALL YOUR CARRIER to verify your plan. Don't ASSUME anything, particularly from The Dude...
What is the harm in calling your carrier and confirming? Like modular747, I've seen things like this happen when phones are switched on the account.
Does it change things if I can receive texts?
Cause i just got one.
Not necessarily.
Try this: Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Alright, I'll call on Monday cause nobody works on Sunday. -_-
I did most of those things, resetted network settings, re-installed ios 5.1.1 and such.
I can't text.
