Question: configuring Server 10.4.11 for wireless access

Hello-

I'm having trouble configuring a wireless network. I'm running Server 10.4.11 on MY home network.

I have spent a few hours with ATT tech support attempting to set up this. My computer won't allow it. that having been said, it was real obvious that the ATT service rep was reading a script as to how to configure my G4 to do this. We came at it several different ways, all unsuccessful; all frustrating.

Any ideas?

Hello, no knowledge of Server differences, but if you don't get an answer here, there is a 10.4 Server forum you might ask in...

Thanks for the response.

About connections... ethernet connection hook to the G4 just fine. Ethernet connection hooks to the router just fine. the ATT tech [a Phillipino woman] attempted to set up the Apple's internet connection several different ways. We changed passwords several times, as well as set up new connections several times. This all took about 2 hours.

This ATT tech said that ]there was something in my security settings that.....] was keeping the password from allowing me to connect my computer.

I'm using their router, which is new. I had attempted this with a eBay purchased supposedly new Apple Airport Express Base Station. Got a visual net from the base station, however ran into the same problem as stated above. Airport card seems to be working just fine as well.

It's more work to do this that I thought... and I'd really like to solve this problem.

Any ideas?

The tech support ATT wanted me to use a WPA2 TKIP and WPA2 AES. When those didn't work at all, We set it up on WEP; didn't try WPA. Don't know what is enabled thru the router. Equally not sure what encyrption the router is using.

I think that airport is connecting, and the Airport Express Base Station seemed to work just fine. I took it out of the loop as I thought that the ATT usage was some sort of propietary thing, like they wanted me to use only their router.

I was trying to do some research on it before I called ATT back.

I gotta admit that all the encryption/password/att settings are confusing to me.

Thanks for your help... I read the archieved document you posted a link to as well.
