iTunes not converting certain songs purchased from iTunes

Two songs I just purchased will not copy from iTunes to my iPhone. I get a "!" saying they could not be converted? I bought them from iTunes, how can they not be able to be converted?

iPhone 4S, Mac OS X (10.7.4)
