MainStage is transposing everything up by about 1.5 semitones...

Group,

I have been using MainStage every other weekend for about 2 years now in a worship service environment, and I've run into an interesting problem when rehearsing this afternoon, having to abandon MainStage altogether for tonight's service.

MainStage is now transposing every Concert, Set and Patch up by about 1.5 semitones. I've tried deleting the plist file, and have even updated my software from 2.2.1 to 2.2.2 (running under OS 10.6.8). According to the MIDI monitor, MainStage is recognizing the correct notes, however the audio is sounding sharp...but not as if a not transposition is happening...it's just way out of tune (between 1 and 2 semitones). According to my display, no pitch bend is being recieved by MainStage. My tuning is set to A440. Multiple Logic software instruments (ESX24 and EVP88) are experiencing the same problem, and it's happening regardless of MIDI controller and/or MIDI interface.

If anybody has experienced this pitch problem before, I'd be extremely grateful to know how is was ultimately resolved. I'd like to use MainStage for tomorrow's service, if possible.

Thanks in advance for your assistance...

Greg

Well, I fumbled around for awhile after posting the above issue, and after disconnecting my audio interface (Edriol FA-66) and playing the same MainStage Concert with my mouse (instead of via MIDI), I found that the pitch was now correct. Apparently, the Sample Rate switch on the back of my interface had been bumped from 44.1K to 48K, which causes the playback to be pitched about 1.5 semitones sharp. By shutting down my MacBook Pro, setting the switch back to 44.1K SampleRate, everything is now playing at A440 again.

Hopefully this will help someone else who may find themselves in the same situation.

Thanks for reading...

LHall,

MainStage works great, most of the time. I've recently been periodically getting Disk Too Slow errors when using Logic instruments and Omnisphere, even with a 7200rpm drive. This has caused a similar silence to what you may be experiencing. Based on other posts, I thought it might be the motion sensor parking the heads...which I've since disabled. We'll see if that solves the problem.

In general, I'm a huge MainStage fan. Since I'm primarily a worship band player, I really only need 4 or 5 patches in a concert. They're extremely easy to build...even with layers, splits, crossfades, tempo-based effects, etc. The Logic instruments are well organized, and easy to tweak. With Omnisphere, I'll never run out of possibilities...which means I'll probably never use 2% of its capabilities either.

Thanks Greg. I think my issue was that I was trying to run too much on a Macbook that just didn't have enough RAM or power. I played with a Sting tribute band the other night which required a whole lot of patche with many layers. I ended up just taking my Mac Pro to the gig and everything went fine.

Love the flexibility of this program.
