Sep 29, 2012 1:28 PM in response to Mad-Hiasby Mad-Hias,...okay, it's not working perfectly. When the external drive is plugged in and I close the lid, I still get the "volume not properly ejected" error...

Sep 30, 2012 7:01 PM in response to Tim Lorenzenby GW Schreyer,Power Nap will make ONE TM backup to catch any changes between the last time TM ran and the time it went to sleep. It works this way on the MBA.
You will see in your logs that Power Nap does indeed run every hour while sleeping, but it should make only one TM backup.
This is all done so that you can grab your computer and go without waking it in the morning. The next time you do wake it, even if out of WiFi range, it will have all the updates that occurred overnight.

Oct 3, 2012 12:18 AM in response to Mad-Hiasby eliseman,Since 10.8.2 I now have powernap working OK with no external drives connected (or the mains switched off so the exteral drive is not powered).
On mains power with external TM drive, I still get the same errors with the rMBP trying to log out of all live applications and shut down.

Nov 3, 2012 9:19 AM in response to Montroseby SvenPortael,Hi there
I have exactly the same problem!
SMS is installed, PRAM reset (info I got from AppleCare), but so far nothing helps: I keep finding new mail in my mailboxes after using PowerNap and my TimeMachine made a back-up, but all the system sounds from Mail are gone (send/receive,etc,.....) when I wake him up.
Same system: MBP Retina Mid 2012.
I just hope Apple brings out an update soon to fix this bug!
Kind regards
Sven

Nov 28, 2012 1:18 AM in response to SvenPortaelby eliseman,After 10.8.2 I now have different problems.
When on Powernap, the Retina MBP won't wake up. Instead it locks up on the login screen. Moving the mouse/trackpad crates a kind of block pattern as if erasing the screen. Similar to the way old Windows PCs used to do when you didn't have enough memory.
This only occurs with the USB hub. With no periferals, everything is OK.
