Reset the iPod
- After charging till full charge, at least 2 hours (preferably 4 hours)
- Toggle the Hold switch, make sure you dont see the red mark when you do the next step
- Reset the iPod -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 secs or till the Apple Logo comes ON
- Then release the buttons
- Select your preferred language.

If this doesn't work, bring it to Apple Store or 3rd Party service vendor.

This advice did not solve my problem, all I am getting is feint lines down the screen as if the info is their but it can not show it, I think I will have to take it to a third party for a fix, thank you for your reply to my problem, if it is going to cost too much for a fix, an up grade may be my only option.

Normally, if a Reset doesn't work, then it would be hardware and replacing the screen at any 3rd Party service would be the way forward, and while you are there, ask for a Hardisk upgrade and a battery replacement.
