iCloud SMTP as Freemail.hu's outgoing mail server "rejects sender address"

Using verified settings of iCloud's as outgoing server (smtp.me.com, working iCloud username and password, SSL on or off, password authentication, server port 587) as of my freemail.hu (hungarian mail service provider) account on my iPhone 4 iOS5, letters sent from my freemail account arrive in Outbox as Unsent Message with the error message "The sender address ...@freemail.hu was rejected by the server" - with checked working apple server at sending and otherwise perfect iCloud mail account. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance...

You can't send anything other than @me.com / @mac.com emails through the iCloud mails server. Apple do not allow this to prevent spam being sent through their mail servers.

To send mail from your @freemail.hu email address you should use the outgoing SMTP mail server address that they provide - not iClouds.

Thanks for the qiuck response. Unfortunately freemail.hu (POP3) has no SMTP server, a bit conservative but I use it for decades ago and I neither had any spam idea, just tried to harmonize two centuries in which iCloud could be of help...

I realise you don't intend to send spam, but unfortunately there are plenty of spammers in this world who would happily use Apple's servers to send out spam. That's why Apple lock it down to @me.com and @mac.com addresses only.

GMail will allow you to send external email through their servers once you have performed some identity verification through your external email account. That may be an option for you.

There are spammers unfortunately, but they are for GMail too and maybe they can handle them somehow... another account just for technical problems - not for brand loyalty... Thanks for your help, maybe I give GMail a try.

I am trying to set up an new iPad for my friend who is Hungarian. Do you know the incoming/outgoing server settings for freemail.hu account? I need to set it up so that she can receive her emails in Mail. Thank you!!
