iPad Crashes
My iPad crashes out of several apps after a minute or two, including Twitter, The Washington Post, and Google Maps. Sometimes it crashes completely , becoming unresponsive, but then comes back up without a reboot.

Then try some basic troubleshooting steps and see if any of them help. You may have to restore the iOS software and start from scratch if nothing else works, but start here.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Quit all apps completely and restart the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus ➖ sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Restart the iPad.
You can try this specifically for Safari crashes.
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
If you have the original iPad and are running iOS 5.1.1, IMO, the iOS is really taxing the device's capability.
As Demo has stated, 5.1.1 is just too much for the iPad 1. It will always crash, it has so little memory. You'll always want to manually kill all the previously-run programs and/or reset the device before running an app that frequenlt crashes.
Usually the apps crash because they are HD. And because it is an iPad 1
I agree with demo
Hi Demo,
Is it possible to get back to the previous ios version. This crash issue is killing me. Thanks.
NOT WORK !
It is a fake solution and unofficial! Apple should officially pronounce about.
It is bad for your image!
Cheers Demo, that worked a treat for my ipad nano.
The screen had completely frozen and wasn't responding to anything- eventually it shut down and wouldn't turn back on.
Followed your guidance and it resolved it straight away. 😎
