T-Mobile E-mail from iCloud

I have had a .mac account for 6 years. Never a problem receiving emails to my non-mac mobile device. Yesterday afternoon my T-Mobile G2 phone stopped receiving emails. I can get access the Internet and get email from my Gmail account from the G2 but no longer access my Mac account. If I go to my Apple devices I can access my email from my iCloud account.


I rebooted the G2 several times and spoke with tech support. We deleted the email account and tried to re-install. I continue to get the same error message that “Setup could not finish. Cannot connect to server. (Expected string, none found)”. Anyone else have a problem like this? Any suggestions for a fix?

Mine may have stopped as early as yesterday AM; however I only noticed it after 4PM. Since this happened to you with a different device on a different network, it would appear it has to do with the iCloud service/server. When I spoke with T-Mobile (+1.25 hours trying to fix) they pointed to the iCloud. When I spoke with Apple they pointed to T-Mobile.

I will go over to T-Mobile late this afternoon and bring my iPad + MackBook Pro and see what we can figure out.

Hello Rob. Mine went down again at about 10:30AM EDT today and has yet to come back up. When I called Apple they said it was nothing on their side so I am at a loss to make any suggestions. Until the number of folks that report the problem reaches a big enough number that gets their attention, I think we are out of luck. Looks like it is two T-Mobile's and one Sprint so far.
