Have you reset those devices? Nothing is lost
Reset : Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

Jul 29, 2012 1:34 PM in response to lllaassby yahboo,Just tried ipad and even that doesn't work now. So: it did work with the other 2 devices for long time, then when i first plugged in the ipad it worked, then next thing I did was plug in the ipod touch and nothing. iphone - nothing. And now ipad - nothing. So basically somehow somewhen the computer has stopped recognising all devices. i've reset both the small devices and it makes no difference. i've uninstalled itunes and installed the latest one. i've restarted apple mobile something under programs, as directed. i've restarted computer.
Now what? i can't understand why the sudden non-recognition.

Jul 31, 2012 1:32 AM in response to lllaassby yahboo, sorry about delay. To clarify: I have 3 devices, 3 different cables, but normally I use the first cable I got, the iphone cable. This has always worked perfectly for both iphone and ipod touch. Then my puppy chewed the wire... I taped it up and it still seemed to work as a charger, but to be on safe side I started using the cable that came with the ipod touch. Same cable surely? It works as a charger, but not to connect with the computer. So then i just tried this morning with the original (chewed but working) cable. Unlike the ipod touch cable, it does sometimes get a flicker of activity from the computer. Once with the ipad it installed the latest software driver, and I was able to copy something from itunes onto the ipad. Then i tried my iphone. It said unknown device connected. After reconnecting to different ports and taking cable in and out of iphone a few times, it installed driver, but still didn't get recognition from iTunes. It was recognised by computer, but when I clicked on the symbol in my Computer, it couldn't find any content. Usually I go via that route to download pictures, but it couldn't find anything. So then I ran the iTunes diagnostic.
