My iMac 2008 will not read or write to CD, but will to DVD's.

My iMac 2008 will not read or write to CD. It will to DVD tho. I have tried cleaning the lens, and redoing the firmware to no avail.

I find it difficult to understand why it will read and write DVD's but not CD's.

iMac 2.88 Ghz, Mac OS X (10.6.8), 6 GB of RAM

Hello,

It's easy for one or the other to quit working, they use different Lasers, voltages, & circuits.
