My Philips hdtv plasma wont display my pb

Please help. I had a regular hdtv before and never had problems. I have pluged to my 12" mini-dv adaptor, pluged to that is the DVI. Now at the other end of the DVI, I have a HDMI adaptor. My tv just stays black.

I Called philips and they said try changing your refresh rate to 60. Problem is, my refresh rate is grayed out and has n/a and doesnt let me chnage it. And I only have 3 resolution choices.

Has anyone heard of these problems?

daddydesign,

I´ve been on the phone support for hours today with this same issue!
We could not figure out the problem. So I brought my PB to the store where I bought my TV, to test it there, as well. Turns out the adapter had malfunctioned! With a new adapter everything´s working! An obvious thought, perhaps, but worth mentioning, I thought - as these gadgets do go bad. Good luck. 🙂

Hi again,

I have a Philips, but a different model. Does the screen on your powerbook change resolution when connected to your TV? Mine did. The powerbook also reckognized the TV, even when it did not work, which led me to believe there would be nothing wrong with the cable or adapter. I can´t be sure, of course, but our situations sound similar. I can´t really think of anything else, except another obvious one; did you switch to the the apropriate channel on your TV? I am sure you did, but mention it, anyway. Hope you can get it to work,
Nina Swan

Daddydesign:
Hi again - so glad to hear you figured it out.
I bought a Monster cable from Apple called iTVlink for powerbook 12",
which has two connections to the PB, one for video and one for audio, and the other end connects to the TV with three inputs; two for audio and one for S-video. As my TV is not so modern, I also bought a scart adapter. This setup gives me audio and picture. If you call an Apple store near you, they are usually extremely helpful in giving you advice as to what you need for your various setups. Good luck again!
