how to use Itunes to get mac book serial number

How do you use Itunes to get mac book serial number when the mac book has crashed and you can't get it on?

MacBook Pro (15-inch 2.4/2.2 GHz)

I don't think the MacBook's serial number will be listed in iTunes anywhere. That only applies to Apple devices that sync with iTunes, such as iPods. The serial number for a MacBook should be on the MacBook somewhere, physically printed on the surface. This document has more information
