Can't backup with Time Machine: "sparsebundle is already in use"

Assuming it is the same old problem as on Lion.. just reboot the TC... it is disappointing to see the number of issues with ML and the TC.. it is like they didn't test it.

If a reboot of just the TC doesn't work, reboot the whole network.. restart in order, modem, router TC (might be the same or different), other network devices, eg switch.. then clients.. wait 2min between each item.

A much easier solution is this.

Open Time Machine preferences.

Choose "Select Disk" and choose your Time Machine.

First, "Deselect Disk" and your disk will be unmounted.

Then, choose "Select Disk" and your disk will be remounted. I just did that and Time Machine is now backing up.

Incidentally, I am also using Mountain Lion.

Most forums say you must disconnect the users in AirPort Utility, but v6.1 no longer has this feature

So simply open “Finder” on the left under “Devices” you should see your “Time Capsule”. If not then it should be under “Shared”. Click on it and then select “Disconnect”. Then simply reconnect and that should be it

You can also restart the Time Capsule just by using Airport Utility.

Open Airport Utility and select the Time Capsule. Then up on the top bar select Base Station and click on Restart

Opening the Airport utility & "restarting" the Time Capsule worked. 🙂

We updated to Lion about a week ago. The time Capsule seemed to be working & then just quit suddenly.

Hopefully it keeps working.

I have done two things to fix the issue: eject Time Capsule from "devices" and restarted Time capsule. It works now. Thanks guys!

FYI, unmounting the time capsule, either from finder or TM prefs, didn't work for me, had to reboot the time capsule.
