I do not know directly about receipts for in-app purchases but from posts here I would expect you to get a receipt.

This was the only app i had on my ipod and again my power button doesn't work so i have to that.
have you tried to make an iap and have you gotten an email?
As I said before, I have no experience with in-app purchases.
Do you have Restrictions set that prevent in-app purchases? Settings>General.Restrictions
it was off and 20 points for you.
My ipod touch 4g has IAP disabled.
