Safari 6.0 and Mail 6.0 issues with Mountain Lion

Hi There,

Over the weekend I upgraded my MacBook Pro to Mountain Lion and ever since the upgrade I now am facing the following issues:

1. I can not send email using my iCloud IMAP account with Mail 6.0 (however receiving mail is fine and sending from the iCloud.com url is fine also)

2. Safari 6.0 lags and does not load sites. (if I reset Safari it will work for the first couple of sites but then the issue happens again)

Does anyone have a fix or is experiencing the same two problems?

Have you restarted your Mac?

You should also try to repair disk permissions. Open Disk Utility, select your internal drive, and click "Repair Permissions."

Hi ClayG

Thanks for your reply, yes I have already attempted:

- Repairing the disk permissions which did not do anything

- Starting the MacBook in safe mode

- Re-adding my mail account

But none of the above have resolved anything.

Create a new user account, log into it, and try from there. Do you have the same problems?

Regarding the email problem. Another thing to try is deleting then adding back your iCloud account. You can take a screen shot of the account before you deleted to be sure you copied the informaiton correctly. Take a look at the Advanced settings also before deleting it. This has worked for me in the past when I had Mail problems.

I created a separate login with different iCloud credentials and still have the same problem?

Gillsworld,

My advice was to create a new user account on your computer (not in Mail; not iCloud), log out of your current user account, and log into the new one. Finding out whether things work in a fresh user account is an important step on the troubleshooting path.

To create a new user account, go to  > System Preferences > Users and Accounts

That's what I did. I created a new user account and also used a different iCloud account which I have and the same problem exists.

Just to add to the issue,

In regards to the Safari issue I have only found its on secure sites when the love icon appears in the URL bar.. Like Facebook and Internet banking, this discussion page ) I'm using my iPad at the moment.

I think this Safari issue has more to do with sites that you need to add a username and password too? Those are the sites which I am having issues with.
