Q: Apparently, I don't know my "com.apple.smig keychain" password. And I'm in the middle of setting up my new Mac mini. I transferred data from my MacBook and what I thought was the password isn't working! Help!!

Ressetting Keychain doesn't help.

The problem is -- you are in Migration Assistant and it has both machines essentially locked. I quit the process, called Apple support, and was told to just hit the "Cancel" button when asked for a com.apple.smig keychain password. That's what I did and most of my stuff transferred -- missing just a few settings that have been only a minor headache to redo.

To my question "What is com.apple.smig?" there was no answer.

Strange, today your Cancel solution showed on 1st search today, showing the same cure earlier this year...
