Like other I cannot get any of the the latest iWork applications to load after installing mountain lion. Ironically I find that iWork 'o8 applications will load. How's that for progress! I have triied deleting the plist in preferences. But to no avail. Can anyone help?
How did you install iWork '09?
Have you upgraded to v4.2?

Hi! I have the same problem with pages 4.2 and 10.8 It starts but nothing happens. You cant open a document nor make new ones. Its running, but dead....
Me too, the whole iWork 09 doesn't work. It launches but that's it...
I downloaded Mountain Lion from the spp store.
I already had iwork '09 and upgraded to Pages 4.2 (and numbers and keynote) via the app store.

How did you "already have" iWork '09?
If it was not from the Mac App Store you are not upgrading it, you are installing another copy.

I can't remember exactly how I acquired it. I downloaded it but I cetainly don't have any other versions of iwork '09. though I do have a version of iwork '08 which works with mountain lion.
I found that pages 4.0 works. downloaded the demo. fyi, have I have sent an email to apple. I believe this is an issue with OS 10.8 / pages 4.2 / Macbook (air)
I have managed to fix this problem on my MBP. I deleted iwork 09 from /Applications deleted the plist files that started with com.apple.iWork. from /users/myusername/Library/Preferences
Deleted the iwork09 folder from /Library/Application Support
Reinstalled iwork 09
Installed the hotfix from here http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1563
all is well now...hope it helps someone else
I tried this but got the message "An eligible Keynote application was not found in the location /Applications/iWork '09," and wasn't able to continue
If you installed iWork '09 from the retail disk or the downloaded trial, all three applications must be in the iWork '09 folder. Moving, deleting or renaming one will cause the updater to fail. This is because in iWork '09 the updaters are for the whole suite, not the individual apps as in previous versions.
Create a folder called " iwork '09 " in the applicaion tab in finder menu bar and move pages, keynote and numbers into it. Try update again using this - http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1563
I had this problem too.
After trying lots of the suggested fixes, I managed to solve it by creating a new user account, logging into it, opened Pages (no problems there) and logging out of the new account again. I then logged back into my own account and iWork applications all launched no problems.
