Since the upgrade, my computer is crashing all the time

Hello everybody,

I did the mountain lion upgrade a few days ago, and since then, I have a few crashes a day.

Does anyone suffer from the same issue? How do I resolve this?

Never had this issue before, and now it seems that It's something that will not solve itself..

What happens is that all of a sudden, I am getting a black screen, and everything is shut down.

Then I'm getting a gray screen saying that there was an error and that my computer is restarting.

Like I said, it happens now a few times a day.

VERY ANNOYING!!

Any ideas?

Thanks for your help guys!!

It may be an incompatible piece of thrid party software that opens up via your login items.

firast thing I would do is to go to your login items via the user/accounts section in system preferences and remove them all. then restart and see what happens.

you should then also creat a new user account and see what happens....

Let me know hat hapopens and we will take it from there

Kernel panics are generally caused by a badly corrupt system, bad third-party software or a hardware issue. If you're having kernel panics right after an upgrade, and the machine was functioning fine beforehand, hardware is unlikely (though not impossible).

If you post the kernel panic log, it will contain information that can help identify what third-party software you have installed that may be involved. If third-party software ends up not being the cause, reinstalling the system might help, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

Okay, here's a list of the third-party software that could be causing the problem:

com.parallels.filesystems.prlufs 2010.12.28

com.parallels.kext.prl_vnic 7.0 15104.778994

com.parallels.kext.prl_netbridge 7.0 15104.778994

org.virtualbox.kext.VBoxDrv 3.1.6

com.parallels.kext.prl_usb_connect 7.0 15104.778994

com.Cycling74.driver.Soundflower 1.5.2

I've seen that Soundflower driver implicated in other kernel panics quite a few times, so I would start with uninstalling that. If that doesn't help, I would try uninstalling VirtualBox. Note that, in both cases, you will need to use the uninstaller provided by the software. Simply dragging an app to the trash will not do the trick, as that will leave behind the kernel extensions (kexts) that are actually causing the problem.

I have Parallels, so that's unlikely to be causing problems unless you have a very outdated version of Parallels. Select the Parallels Desktop app in the Finder and choose File -> Get Info. What version is it? I have version 7.0.15104.778994. (Ridiculous version number, but there you have it.) If you have an older version, try upgrading Parallels to the latest version. Of course, if you no longer use Parallels and have no plans to use it in the future, uninstalling it would be a better option.

If you end up removing all three of those programs, using the appropriate uninstaller, and see no change, post back here for further advice.

Since the upgrade, my computer is crashing all the time
