It also solved the sleep problem, I guess Apple has to add network issues too list of issues solved by SMC reset.

By the way, I never heard anything to the bug request 8 days counting, Apple Support is so slow

same problem here with MacBook Pro 15-inch mid 2010, after upgrade to Mountain Lion I realised it shuts down network during sleep. "Wake for network access" is checked in "Energy Saver" preferences.

will monitor this thread for any further updates, I believe bug report was submitted to Apple by margate (thanks!)

I've also had this problem since upgrading to Mountain Lion.  I've two Apple TVs (2nd gen) connected to two PC's and one Mac.  The Apple TVs cannot reconnect to the Mac iTunes library after Mac has gone to sleep but maintains connection to the PC iTunes libraries.  I've set my Mac to never sleep to solve the problem but would like a better fix.  I also will monitor thread for further updates.

Thank you! Yep it seems like SMC reset and subsequent boot in safe mode helped me as well. Side note: first boot in safe mode did not work, it got stuck on start-up screen (waited for about 30 minutes) and I had to force power it off and then boot again.

Let's see how it goes, I will report back here if I still have issues with it going forward.

I have a late 2009 iMac 21.5" and i just recently downloaded OS X Mountain Lion and since then my internet hasn't been working. I took it to the genius bar but that didn't help. I am happy to see that I'm not the only one that has the problem I hope that apple fixes this problem in the near future. This problem has made me very frustrated because this is the first new operating system that I have put on here. I went straight from snow leopard to mountain lion. I want to see this problem fixed. So thank you for posting about this problem.

    @ *

did you do SMC reset and subsequent boot in safe mode which is known in 2 responses in this thread to solve the issue

  • abalgir Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

I did the SMC reset without any luck, will try the safe mode boot following another SMC reset. but I solved the issue by having both Ethernet and Wifi "on" on  same machine. Ethernet goes down after the sleep, Wifi does not. Strange behavior.

Set your energy saver computer sleep setting to never.

  • margate Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

You need to do both, I also tried SMC alone which did not work, do both

Why should we have to fix anything-- Doesn't anyone who WORKS FOR APPLE Read these Posts? Or are we just stuck with a OS that is not as capable as the one it replaced.

Every day I try to connect to the APP Store and Pray for an UPDATE from the Folks who broke this in the first place.

Everything was FINE Before Mountain Lion.

Are they so busybeing smug and counting their mountains of cash to be actually concerned about their product.

I left Microsoft for a reason- they were Awful and I was so Pleased with Apple until this.

I am seriously doubting about being one of the first in line for iPhone 5.

who needs another  headache Mountain Lion is great and awful at the same time- If I cannot connect to Server- then I  really only have a Beautiful Aluminum Paperweight.

Dont try to do any banking or transactions because you WILL LOSE SAFARI sooner or later. No matter what you do you cannot fix a  OS X system that is faulty. Only the Authors of said system can resolve this.

The only Apple folks who technically read these Forums are the Moderators who enforce rules about conditions on Forum behavior. There is    and they DO read those emails. This Forum is for the discussion and hopefully resolution of problems being experienced by the Apple Community. As Users ourselves some spend countless hours answering questions and finding solutions to other User's problems. Of the millions of Macs that are in use if this Forum represents even 1/100 of the people that are experiencing troubles then we are still several orders of magnitude better off than the Windows community. I do have sympathy for you and your problem, have you tried some of the work arounds listed in this thread? From my perspective Lion was more problematic than MtLion. Yes there are problems, yes things could be better. I have confidence that MtLion OS will become a very good platform. Snow Leopard is. The developers are jumping a pretty high bar by trying to blend a computer operating system with an ipad/iphone feel and look.

If you want to correct issues on your system ask direct questions and we will do our best to answer them if you are willing to try what we suggest. Not every attempt will be successful, not every problem will be resolved, but if you look at some of the folks here who answer your questions those little points under their Avatar were earned 5 and 10 at a time when they were rewarded by a grateful user whose problem was solved or question was answered. They have given years of their time, for free, to assist others.

Problem persists. Very common. Zero help/ response/ acknowledgement from Apple so far, a month and a half later.
