Can I install Logic Pro on my wife's Macbook Pro if I downloaded it onto my Macbook Pro using my Apple ID?

Hi, simple question. My wife and I both have a Macbook Pro, although I have a credit card linked to my Apple ID for large purchases. Can I buy Logic Pro using my ID and download it at work and install it on her Mac? Or do I have to use her apple ID and download it onto her Mac?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion, Logic Pro

Short answer, yes. But she can only update the app in the future by using your Apple ID. Apps bought with an Apple ID are forever associated with that ID.

So effectively does that mean that if I purchase logic pro once using my Apple ID, it is a 'free' download on any other computer as long as I sign into my Apple ID and install it there? And that I just need to sign back into my Apple ID to carry out any updates? Or does that computer need to be always logged into that Apple ID for the application to work?

I'm just having a hard time understanding this because it doesnt seem right to me that such an expensive app would be so easily available through 'free downloads' through my Apple ID.

My situation is that I plan to install LP on both my Macbook, which I have now, and a iMac, which I have not purchased yet. I am always using my own Apple ID on my macbook. However, I won't be the only one using the iMac and hence we will probably create a separate Apple ID just for the iMac.

SO does this mean that if I purchase LP on my macbook using my Apple ID, I can go to the iMac, log into my Apple ID, install LP for free, then sign back into the other Apple ID (the one that LP was NOT purchased on)?

SOMEONE HELP PLEASE!!

Yes, that is exactly what it means. The Mac App Store Terms of Use for the apps is that you may install an app on every Mac that yopu own or control, which would include Macs assigned to you for use by an employer or school.
