I have 697 contacts in 11 groups stored in iCloud and all appear on my iPhone and iPad. They were also visible in the contacts app on my MacBook Air so far. After the installation of ML yesterday, there are only 490 contacts and no groups and changes made on the MacBook do not sync to iClound.

Any ideas? Thanks, Tom

First check that all your settings are correct, that contact syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).

Make sure the contacts you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' group and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud group (you can do this by checking in groups), non iCloud contacts will not sync.

If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your contacts are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking contact syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling contact syncing.

Thanks for your response. The settings are correct. I have unchecked contacts in the iCloud control panel, restarted my MacBook Air and checked them again. Now only 300 contacts appear in Adress Book.

I also get an error message now: Der Vorgang konnte nicht abgeschlossen werden. (CoreDAVErrorDomain-Fehler 1.) The German part translate into something like "the task cannot be completed".

Did you check whether all the contacts are in the iCloud account on all your devices.

Addition: I have updated my iMac to Mountain Lion, as well. In address book, I see all conacts but the error messege reads:

[NSInvalidArgumentException] The value for 'host' should be non-nil and non-empty

    Something is wrong here....

iCal and Mail are working and synching fine, only Adreee Book is a problem.

Yes, it seems like an issue with contacts on the Mac, have you tried restarting.

Yes, I did. I also checked the status via the web interface. I have deleted duplicates and now have 608 contacts on the iphone, the iPad and the iMac, all in the same group "All Contacts". However, the iMac reports error [NSInvalidArgumentException] The value for 'host' should be non-nil and non-empty and the MacBook reports error as per my previous post. Both errors occur after the installation of Mountain Lion. I have tried restarting various times. No change.

Update: I have logged out of iCloud on the MacBook, restarted and logged on again. Same problem with Address Book. Additionally, Mail and Notes cannot be activated any more. I'll try again tomorrow.

Is anything in iCloud working on the Mac.

  • Muehlenbungert1 Level 1 (0 points)

iMac: all iCloud services appear to work, only that Address Book error "[NSInvalidArgumentException] The value for 'host' should be non-nil and non-empty" occurs.

MacBook: Mail cannot be activated under System Preferences / iCloud, the error message tells that it currently cannot activate Mail and I should try again later. Same with Notes. AddressBook error as mentioned. Only iCal syncs fine.

Thanks for your thoughts, I really appreciate your help. Will go to bed now and try again tomorrow!

There's always the possibility that some work is being carried out on the servers I suppose, report back tomorrow if it's still the same.

    Good morning!

Mail and Notes are now working on the MacBook. iCal is working. Contacts still do not sync between Adress Book and iCloud. Error message is still: Der Vorgang konnte nicht abgeschlossen werden. (CoreDAVErrorDomain-Fehler 1.)
