Mail 6.0 bug when placing EPS file

Yes I'm having the same problem with eps files.

The drag and drop feature works, but sometimes stops working. I usually relaunch the finder to get it to work again. (hold option to get the menu item appear in the dock > finder icon). Failing that, a full restart tends to restore the functionality for me.

I am having the same problem, both with attaching .eps files and drag and dropping. Both things worked fine with Lion but not with Mountain Lion.

I called Abobe as it happens with Illustrator files and they say it is an Apple thing. The senior tech at Apple I spoke to for over and hour didn't know why it was happening.

I am also having trouble with pdf files looking black in the open preview and looking black when attached to emails. If I drag them to my desktop and open them they display full color, however mailing them looking black to a client is not an option.

I have the same issue. I've learned there's a workaround that doesn't require a restart.

You can click the red close button in the upper left of the message window and it will allow you to save the message as a draft. Do that, then wait a minute or two and go re-open the draft. Your EPS will be attached and the message will be editable again.

This is really irritating and I've reported it to Apple as a bug. It's been happening to me since I updated to Mountain Lion. I don't recall it happening in Lion.

Yep me too. Thanks for the workarounds but has anyone found a permanent fix?

I have the same issue here. I hope it gets fixes anytime soon :-). What I did notice, is that saving the message as a draft, then closing it and reopening the message from drafts does show the preview. So dragging the file to the mail message works, but the preview generation seems to crash the message window.

Still same issue here. Blows my mind that Apple has gone 6 months without addressing this. Major disappointment as I just upgraded to new MBPR with Mountain Lion. Apple Mail ain't much better than it used to be...psssfff.

This is still unresolved. When you think about how the print and design industry has always been Mac based, then this is a terrible bug to go unresolved for so long. BTW, if I right click on my eps files and compress them then there's no problem attaching the zipped file.

my workaround has been to quit Mail and reopen it. then the draft appears with now-visible eps files.

The workaround I use is to right click on the EPS file, compress it to create a zip file and then attach the compressed zip file to the email. It attaches fine and then the person recieving it can just double click on it to uncompress it at the other end.

An even better solution would be for Apple to pull their finger out, appoint a different lead software engineer to the relevant team and fix this laughable error, but what do I know...I'm just a dumb user who reported this bug over 6 months ago.
