APPLE, ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!

I CAN NOT believe that Mountain Lion doesn't include Spaces!!! Please get it back in there! I'm floored that it wasn't included in Mountain Lion! I absolutely loved that feature and would consider going back to Snow Leopard just for it!

It wasn't in Lion either. It has not been around for well over twelve months. You are not talking to Apple here, so tell them through their feedback page.

Cheers

You apple apologists may feel this implementation of Spaces is just fine: it is not. They warped what already was a half-assed Virtual Desktop implementation into something far less useful than it already was.

* It's NOT as easy to assign applications to the Desktop of choice.

* It's NOT as easy to navigate to the Desktop of choice.

* It's NOT as easy to say, "this application should be in every desktop." (Quicksilver doesn't work in every Desktop, just the first one, for example)

My 27" iMac is NOT my iPhone, it doesn't need to function the same way. This is yet another seriously [bad word] decision moving what had been an elegant and efficient OS towards Fisher-Price land (yes, I loathe Unity and Gnome3, as well and for similar reasons, but at least those're free).

I've never looked in to it but you may be able to use Hot Corners to switch between Desktops. Also, you can set up finger motions to swap between desktops on a trackpad if you have one available. Also, as shown by Colin you can set up shortcuts on the keyboard to switch between Desktops so you have a lot options. The only point I agree with Ted is the third. It would be nice to have the option to see an app in all desktops not just one. The 2nd point is nonsense because I just gave 3 possible options and assigning applications (Ted's first point) requires a right click on the dock icon, choose options, and assign to this desktop. That process sounds simple to me.

I do not speak nonsense. I had on my SL install NINE virtual desktops assigned in a nice 3x3 grid: you can't easily navigate 'tween 9 of the current desktops with as few keystrokes and why can't I have it the way it was? Why must I relearn my workflow because of some idiot designer's conception of how I should work?

My hot corners already are assigned other tasks. I prefer keyboard to mousing. I use a trackball, not a trackpad. You see, your options are options only in your mind.

But I'm glad you were able to see the potential difficulty my 2nd point posed.
