Mountain Lion freezing

I now take back my flash solution.. After installing Flash again my system crashed after a few hours. I then tried flashblock and it crashed again a few hours later. I then removed it entirely again and it crashed after that so flash is not the solution. There is something else going on but it seems a bit more stable today.. maybe because its been colder :-P

The same issue. I have SSD Disk, I thought this issue only with me (((((

Is it an apple ssd or a third party one? Have you turned on trim after the upgrade (If your drive supports trim)?

Third party one. It always worked with Lion pretty well, but after ML release it started freeze itself

Ok I have installed the trim. It show trim enabled and supported by my SSD. I'll check it. But I don't understand what that exactly doing for my hard drive. Thanks

Just wanted to chime in about 10.8.1: I'm still getting the freezes, although my computer didn't freeze for two days.

I sadly identified my problem... it seems that my hdd is almost dead...smart says verified on disk utility, but on other reports the number of bad sectors is around 3000... it makes a noise like is trying to read data when ml freezes... happens on lion too now. What shocks me is that a month ago the hdd was perfectly healthy.

There is a problem with PC's going into sleep mode with ML. I made it so the PC never sleeps, but the hard drives and screens do. With that my problems with ML have improved substantially.

I did find by digging around in console that a USB device I plugged in is having issues with ML (my KVM switch, of course) Periodically ML decides that the keyboard isn't there and I have to unplug and replug the USB to get it to register.

When you get ML you could create a USB disk to install ML on a fresh drive, same as in Lion, but you had to do it before running the install. The computer I upgraded fron Lion to ML is starting to have too many issues, I'm going to have to wipe the drive and start over. Of course this is nothing compared to the trials and tribulations I had with Windows XP and Vista. It's just difficult because I've been spoiled over the past 6 years and this hicup is disturbing.

Did you try defragging your hard drive with something like Drive Genius or iDefrag. I believe both of these will fix a lot of your bad sectors as well. Backup your drive before using them.

So a quick update on my version of the Freezing issue. It seem that mine weren't necissarily a Mountain Lion issue multiple re-installs and other test seem to indicate that I'm likely dealing with a hardware issue. Hope the rest of you get your issues sorted out.

Since upgrading to 10.8.1, my Mid 2009 MacBook Pro has started freezing. I've noticed it like 3 times so far. Everything on the screen would stop responding and I had to hold down the power button. I hope it's not a hardware issue.

hersey10, thanks for the tip. I suspect it might be my Check Point VPN client. I just noticed it was complaining that one of its services isn't running. I am trying a reinstall now. It seems strange that a single app can cause the entire OS to freeze. I may have to go back to 10.8.0, since that worked pretty well for me.
