I'm so sick of this sh*t.

The computer didn't freeze now but the kernel_task process went up to 100%. WHY is it so hard to have a system that works fine?

I can't reboot/shutdown the computer when the kernel_task-thingy starts acting up. I want to do that because there is no other alternative to stop it. It seems that the computer is waiting for something to end. All I can see is a gray screen with a circle that moves around.

When I'm sick of waiting I push the power-button and turn the computer on. After that the ML default desktop-wallpaper is showed.

The kernel_task at 100% CPU and the freezing problem is two really annoying problems with my beloved computer.

I'm starting to think that I must to a fresh re-install of ML and don't upgrade to 10.8.2 until it is fix

😟 😟

Sorry to post this issue in this thread.. They're not related I think but it is so frustrating.

Nice.. Mine will be it eventually. By restoring I mean, go to Restarting-bottom and push the Cmd + R-button. Then you will come to a page where it says Restore from a time machine-backup or Do a fresh reinstall. I'm doing a fresh reinstall when my internet-connection is better. I can't believe the computer doesn't say anything about the freezing part.

Hi there, just wondering if you gave the Macbook Pro EFI Firmware update 2.9 a whirl? (Sorry if I missed that in an earlier post). The issue it resolves; "This update resolves an issue which can cause the system to hang during heavy processor loads " sounds exactly like what is happenning to my mid 2011 Macbook Pro with SSD since ML 10.2.8 update but firmware does not work with my model! Just randomly my software freezes when doing some processing such as pixel editing in photoshop, raw conversions in DXO Optics Pro, or even when doing a 1.12 Gig Garage Band update through the app store. First the software seems to freeze, force quit also not accessible, then as I move the curser to other programs or finder the whole machine freezes and I have to physically shut it down with power switch and reboot every time. Sometimes happens every couple of minutes... Tried Onyx as well, MBP seems a bit better but crashed again today trying to burn a CD direct from GarageBand...so issue still there. Never had a problem before 10.8.2, seriously effecting productivity for work... BTW, does anyone know if a machine crashes after it has downloaded 1.12 Gigs of loops from app store but fails to intall them whether they are taking up space on hard drive somewhere..? I tried the update twice and it crashed staight after download each time... I hope there is another firmware upgrade for older Macs or that 10.8.3 is not far away and has a sure fix for this really annoying problem...
