Mountain Lion freezing

I have a 15-inch Macbook Pro, Early 2011 and no software update for me. Ugh.

Does ML 10.8.2 solve the problems everyone seems to be having?

I have a 13 in 2.26 MHZ MBookPro 5.5 (Intel Core 2 Duo, 1067 Mhz bus, 4 GB Ram, 160 GB HDDD) running nicely on Snow Leopard (10.6.8). Should I upgrade to ML 10.8.2?

Could you please repost your solution? I could not find it amid all the posts.

No, ML 10.8.2 does not correct the problem.

Apple recently announced - http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1609?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US - a technical update that "includes graphics performance and reliability enhancements and improves compatibility with some USB devices.This update is recommended for all Mac notebooks introduced in June 2012."

I achieved success and corrected the problem with my 2008-MBP by upgrading the firmware which runs my third-party SSD. However, others have tried that and not had any luck. Also there seems to be a lot of evidence that heavy GPU load can bring the spinning balloon on for some folks.

I don't think I've seen yet where anyone has reported the technical update mentioned above - or indeed any support from Apple - has corrected the problem for them.

Noooooo! ML 10.8.2 is the one that seems to be causing all our problems; let's hope they are working hard on 10.8.3 to cure them. Apple has become a big, rich corporation and bloated - the antithesis of what SJ set out to do and more and more stuff is being pushed out with inherent problems.

After numerous hours of searching and changing config and changing disk forth and back to HD from SSD...

I tried to put a SSD into a mac mini 2011. I reverted back to the original hard drive because the SSD was part of the problem. I don't understand why yet but my SSD doesn't seem to be compatible with the Mac Mini. It might be defective...

I reverted back to OS X Lion 10.7.5... Mountain Lion 10.8.2 is unstable for me. It freezes regardless of program used.

I also realized that I needed to plug an USB keyboard if I want the startup keys to work. Using bluetooth keyboard doesn't activate the startup key combo most of the times.

So when they put out a release of Mountain Lion that will indicate "Correct stability issues", I will test it on an external usb drive before putting my data at risk...

I installed several times Mountain Lion and always it frozen. My solution: I ran Macwarein DiskTools Pro and I erased the bad preferences files along the disk. Then Mountain Lion works fine. All is ok.

Add me to the Freezer pile LeSigh!!

at first i thought it was my graphics card so i eliminated one monitor, now it's doing it again.

My MBP and my older MacPro no issues at all Wifes MBP is also fine! This ***** as this is my main system and my project are now locking up with no warning.... Arrrggg Rotten apple!

Screen freeze on a MacPro and iMac after upgrading to ML 10.8.2. from Lion.

Hard restart required.

Screen freezes for me too. iMac 10,1 running Mountain Lion 10.8.2. This is a work machine which I run 9 hours a day. At least once a day, it just freezes and I have to force a restart. The mouse will move around but I can not click on anything. This all started right after upgrading from Lion, directly to Mountain Lion 10.8.2. So frustrating as I get no warning as to when it will happen.

Just happened again. I wish I had not violated my own rule of waiting for the .3 release to upgrade.

+ 1 (2) for this problem! I have used mac since tiger, and always loved OS X. Unfortunately I find the newer updates to be more and more buggy. Shouldn't it be the other way around? My brother recently got into mac an bought a mac mini. And he is not very happy. First he had a problem where his samsung tv caused the system to not shot down properly. Got a temporary fix to that, then his machine startet to freeze from time to time. Only way to fix this is to hard restart. I have the same problem with my macbook. Especially with using many tabs in safari. Waking up the system with 8-10 tabs open and it will freeze about 50% of the times, maybe more. Before I could say about OSX "it just works" to my friends with windows, these days noooot so cocky. *sigh* FIX please!!

Absolutely fed up with it. 1st the battery problems (MB Pro) & now crashing every single **** day. Constantly having to restart to try to fix it. Disrupts my work, very annoying. My Windows laptop never freezes like this.

No, just Safari which is all up to date & also Mail seems to crash at least once per day. Luckily today its's been OK so far.
