Cannot connect to the App Store since upgrading to Mountain Lion.

Question

Cannot connect to the App Store since upgrading to Mountain Lion.

I downloaded through the App Store Mountain Lion. Everything is working great except that the App Store app. I keep getting "Cannot connect to the App Store" error message. Is it possible that it's still too much traffic on the servers or a bug in Mountain Lion? App Store worked fine before obviously, otherwise I wouldn't be able to get Mountain Lion. I tried trashing the plist and cache.db several times and still no go. Anybody else have this problem? Help!

Tried restarting several times. Curiously the App Store works on my admin account, but not the standard account that I normally use.

I had this problem too. Make sure you are on Admin user or remove parental controls. One of those fixed it for me!

Thanks Josh! I removed parental controls and the App Store is back. Couldn't figure out which parental control did this, so my standard account is set to unlimited. Is this a bug in Mountain Lion? In Lion having some parental controls on didn't break the App Store.

Hi, I have a similar problem that you, but in my case I am using Lion and the problem came up since upgrading Safari. Always I use my Mac like Admin user and never I installed the parental control, so I don´t know how can I do to resolve this. Anyone have any clue? Thanks!!

This seems to be a bug in the OS. After days looking for an answer, I found one that will probably help those of you that, like me, tried just about everything else that has been suggested in the forums:

I came back to this forum, being one of the latest dealing with this issue, to share this. If it works for you then please do what I did and share it in some other forum on this issue to spread the word.

Apple please fix this bug in the OS !!!

If the threads are old someone should take them down. Are you one of apple's geniouses working to keep their jobs by keeping everyone else in the dark? Why hasn't apple come out with a fix to this problem instead of leaving all these "old" threads lying around in their own support sites?

I've just downloaded 10.8.4 and having the same issue; checked all the suggested solutions , nothing works, the support suggested trashing library cache for app store but also no success-..
