Notifications aren't working (at all) since install.

Hi, everyone. Since I installed Mountain Lion on my mid-2012 MacBook Air, my notification center has been empty. I've read up on this problem in the support forums, but I haven't seen a solution yet. So far I've tried unchecking and then re-checking sync options for applications under iCloud. I've also tried adding and deleting certain applications from notification center under options. Neither solution has worked, even though I re-started at various stages of trying each. I also made sure the applications were running. Even though I received new mail no notification appeared in notification center. Any ideas?

Is my only option to re-install ML? What's the best way to go about that? Just download again?

Thanks in advance!
