My iPod is stuck at 0:00 on EVERYTHING I try to play?

So I was the smart person that disconnected by 160GB Classic iPod without ejecting it from the laptop I was using. I completely forgot to! Now when I try to play a song it will not play anything and if I try to scroll to the middle of the song it will just skip to the next song. What do I do to fix it for free?!?!?
