Have several finder windows open on several desktop spaces on shut down or restart with "reopen windows when logging back in" checked. When restarting windows not open. Toggled check box off and on, restart, no effect. Toggled off, restart, toggle on, restart, no effect. Pain opening and repositioning windows. Zap P-Ram maybe? Any clues out there?

Same issue here. Snow Leopard and all previous OS versions would automatically open the same folders on startup. Huge time saver, as I have 2 or 3 always being used. But, I don't want to have all the apps open that were open previously.
Hi...same issue here as well. With Lion I had this problem...but not always, sometimes the finder windows would be there after a restart and sometimes not...but since the upgrade to Mountain Lion, the finder windows never reappear after restarting!
I have already tried the two solutions mentioned in

...but none of those worked.
Would also be happy for any suggestions.
Thank you for the post and link. On my MacPro I tried deleting the Finder saved state first which didn't fix it on first restart but is working now. Keeping my fingers crossed. Tried fix same on Mini but hasn't worked after 3 restarts. I'll try the script tomorrow on that and see if that works.
Aren't there any other users suffering this? I'm on 10.8.2, and I'm experiencing exactly the same issue as described here. Sometimes Finder windows restore fine at startup, but most of the time they don't restore, and the puzzling thing is that I don't change anything when they restore or when they don't, so it seems to be "random behaviour".
Tried the solutions at the link posted by wombi1973, but doesn't seem to fix it.
It's quite annoying, because I've a Macbook Air with Snow Leopard, and I'm used to leave the Finder windows where I'm currently working, so I get them open again whenever I restart. I'm also used to do the same on my G5 iMac with Tiger. It works fine on both machines. However, when I'm on the other iMac with Mountain Lion, this bug happens, and it's an annoyance because I'm used to keep open the Finder windows I'm working on.
