Quick Look Icon View broken in Mtn Lion

Since upgrading to Mountain Lion on my Mid 2010 MBP, I've not been able to use Quick Look as I've grown accustomed. For example, with music files I used to see the embedded album artwork as the icon for each file and when mousing over it I would get a "play" button, allowing it to play w/o opening iTunes. But now, all music icons are the standard itunes variety and the play button is no longer available.

I did not realize how much I used this feature until I couldn't use it anymore! Yes, I can select a file and hit the space bar and the file plays in a Quick Look window but it's not the same. Forget the album art icons... I'd be happy just to get my play button back!

I've already reinstalled Moutain Lion and checked all settings. Is this just not a feature not offered anymore in the new OS or...

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I may be misunderstanding your problem. This is my setup.

Mid 2010 MBP 10.8 OSX. Music files that I have put on my desktop have the play button available when the icon size is above 64x64 and the show preview is selected.

If this is not the problem you have then my aplologies for the previous posts, if this does not work on your system then it is not a general ML problem but something specific to your setup.

Did you do a clean install or and upgrade? If my system works as you want yours to and you did an upgrade you can try moving the Finder.plist file to the desktop and restarting Finder, that should create a new .plist file and you may need to adjust the icon sizes again.

Other than that I am out of ideas.

Hi buccitty

I am having the same issues with itunes artwork not showing up in the finder. I need your advice.

Did it finally work after clean install?

If so, how did you clean install since Mountain Lion is a download install?

I have already backed up a download version of Mountain Lion on a external hard drive.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks so much for your links.

I made a new USB mountain lion, and clean installed.

However how do I restore my saved time machine.

I tried to do it through the USB stick with ML, but it says it will restore and wipe everything I have on the hard drive. Will this mean also the installation of ML I just created? If so, what's the point of inppclean installing in the first place.
