I never really cared about space until i ciompletely ran out of space and ever since ive been deleting a lot of stuff. I was lookng at my space and i saw that "other" was taking up 0.25 mb or so space so i wanted to know what "other" is and can i delete it. If so please respond.

No, you can't and since it's only 0.25 MB you can leave it alone.
"Other" is data from imessage, app data, music, system data etc.
i've looked again but it says "2.4GB" is that normal?
No. This indicates corrupt files. A restore should resolve.
Normally it's under 1GB. If it's more you need to restore as new do get rid of it.
You may not have to Restore. Have you ever used "Enable Disk Use"? Turn it back on and delete unnecessary folders and files. Empty the trash (unfortunately this will empty the trash for all disks). Uncheck "Enable Disk Use". Eject the iPod. The next time you connect the space from the deleted files should be available.
TNee, did you notice that the discussion is 10 months old? Also, iOd devices like the iPod touch do not have a disk mode (enable disk us). That is for other iPods only.
