How do I set the default email in Safari?
I upgraded to Mountain Lion and the option seems to be gone.
Thank you 🙂

Launch Mail.
From the Mail menu bar top of your screen click Mail > Preferences then select the General tab.
Make a selection from the pop up menu next to: Default email reader
Quit then relaunch Safari for changes to take affect.
Sorry - I should have been more specific - I do not use a mail program, I want it to open my gmail, which safari used to do.
Thank you Carolyn for answering tho. My fault for not being more specific.

That's ok, no problem.
Can't be done with a web based email client, but if you want, you can add your Gmail account using Mac Mail.
Launch the Mail app. From the Mail menu bar click Mail > Preferences then the Accouts tab then the Account Information tab.
Click + under the accounts panel on the left.
Type in your name, Gmail email address and password then click Continue and follow the instructions.
That way Safari has a default mail server to use under File > Share > Email This Page
You can then access your Gmail account from the Mail app. If you have new mail, you'll see a red badge icon on the Mail icon in your Dock.
It was set in my Safari before I upgraded to Mountain Lion, I am disappointed it is no longer an option.
Thank you for your help Carolyn.
