XCode 4.4 does not stop running even after I quit the Simulator, which was not the case in XCode 4.3.
It works alright if I stop running the simulator first and then quit the simulator but not otherwise.
I have to Force Quit XCode if I quit simulator first.

I have the same problem every other XCode run. I constantly kill Xcode and restart it. It's really annoying.
I had the same problem. Although I found that if I pressed the stop button at the top of the xcode window the IOS simulator closed correctly, without freezing up.
Please release a fix for that. Same happening here since I updated to XCode 4.4.
I am not getting this bug anymore. Seems like they fixed this in an update around 1-2 weeks back. Check updating your Software.
I'm having the same issue since XCode 4.3, Im now on XCode 4.5.1 on Lion and still having the same issue, and now it happnes even if I stop simulator from XCode, 25% of the times it freezes and I have to force quit XCode, pretty annoying, I really hope they releaase and update for this soon.
I have the same issue on XCode 4.5.1 on Moutain Lion 25% of the times it freezes and I have to force quit XCode. There is no differences if I use the stop button in XCode or if I quit the simulator (using cmd+Q).
Update to 4.5.2 and see if that fixes the issue.
After the update to 4.5.2 it's a little bit different.
It works only if I don't use the full screen mode and if I clicked on the simulator icon each time.
And I must have the simulator on the same screen as XCode.
In fact, it is as if XCode could not activate himself the simulator ...
