Hi alan, I also had the same issue, and the same logs. I don't know why but seems that the SUS doesn't has a directory: I have 2 10.7 server and in that one with a working SUS, I have these symbolic links in /var/db/swupd/html/:

drwxr-xr-x 10 _softwareupdate _softwareupdate 340 Sep 1 15:54 .

drwxr-xr-x 3 _softwareupdate _softwareupdate 102 May 26 2011 ..

-rw-r--r-- 1 _softwareupdate _softwareupdate 691 Sep 1 15:54 catalogs.sucatalog

-rw-r--r-- 1 _softwareupdate _softwareupdate 687 Sep 1 15:54 catalogs.sucatalog.alternate

-rw-r--r-- 1 _softwareupdate _softwareupdate 419 Apr 17 2008 catalogs.sucatalog.apple

-rw-r--r-- 1 _softwareupdate _softwareupdate 419 Apr 17 2008 catalogs.sucatalog.apple.previous

drwxr-xr-x 4 _softwareupdate _softwareupdate 136 Aug 28 14:22 content

lrwxr-xr-x 1 _softwareupdate _softwareupdate 87 Sep 1 15:54 index-leopard-snowleopard.merged-1.sucatalog -> /var/db/swupd/html/content/catalogs/others/index-leopard-snowleopard.merged-1.s ucatalog

lrwxr-xr-x 1 _softwareupdate _softwareupdate 75 Sep 1 15:54 index-leopard.merged-1.sucatalog -> /var/db/swupd/html/content/catalogs/others/index-leopard.merged-1.sucatalog

lrwxr-xr-x 1 _softwareupdate _softwareupdate 92 Sep 1 15:54 index-lion-snowleopard-leopard.merged-1.sucatalog -> /var/db/swupd/html/content/catalogs/others/index-lion-snowleopard-leopard.merge d-1.sucatalog

the last 3 links are missing, like the corresponding folder /var/db/swupd/html/content/catalogs/. I don't know why they are missing. I made this week a clean installation and this is the result...

Did you find a solution?

Thank you Mark23. I didn't used Profile Manager, because in the previous installation of the same Lion Server OS, I used the same KB to configure clients, and SUS worked fine since the beginning. I can't understand why this time should be different: it miss some symbolic links to witch client seems to point to in the folder ./html/ so yesterday I tried to make them by myself, and the SUS worked. But the question is why SUS didn't built them?

BTW, after SUS was working I've seen the updates that the server provides, wasn't complete: without Lion SUS (using Apple online SUS) I see several updates, like Safari 6

User uploaded file

but when I ran the software update from clients pointing it to my server again, it said "You are up to date", and in fact, Lion SUS doesn't had -for example- Safari 6:

Can you help me please?
